^ Jussi used to play soccer quite seriously and he's still a huge fan of that sport. After the band got started, at least Jussi and Janne played soccer in "FC Saunailta" (FC "Evening at the sauna") and nowadays Jussi, Janne, Teemu and Pasi play soccer in a soccer team called "Dog's Ball". There's a national tournament on the championship of "Rock soccer" and these four guys do participate in tournaments if the gig calendar only allows them to.

Teemu's entry made me smile.
A week ago or two we had a conversation over at NGT's forum that bands always write the best things about their new songs and that, for each album, they basically say the same things. - Nice to have it spelled out from the artist's point of view ^^
To repeat what I said at the other forum: Of course they have to state how great their songs are, I would be shocked to read something like: "Oh well we're headed to the studio. Don't like the new songs so far, they sound like everything we did before and it's getting boring. You're gonna hate the songs" Juustoinen

So, no need to "apologise" for repetition indeed... : )

5th album, wow...!

Gosh! The "Jussi @ Radio Millennium"-interview is so... I´m lost for words.
The host is sooo bad prepared for the interview, that I don`t know if I should laugh or even cry. Virnistys

Jussi seemed to be lost in this weird situation, too.
His facial expression was sometimes priceless... e.g. in this case:

i think he's like half-prepared xD in the begining i thought he's just plain terrified [well I would have been!], but when I saw it again for translation it's more like: "Alright. let's endure this... - whatever it is."
'comical' yeah ... i'm actually scared of the guy XD is the writing in the video supposed to be his solution to the "wrong guest"-problem? really really weird ... Täh

the host is ... amazing. in a bad sense. i think it's nice however that she asks whether there's anything he does not want to talk about. ^^ [though one should probably know the rules anyway ...]
Too bad she interrupts him when he's talking about school & acting, it actually would have been quite interesting to hear more about that again...

It´s a pity that Uk get mainly in touch with fans per internet, interviews, diary etc., when there is promotionwork for a new album to do.
Not to mention, that there seems no interest in paying attention to foreign fans. Just a bit more translations in english a priori would be so nice and helpful.
What would we non-finnish-speakers be without the help from ciardha and Nightingale? A big thanks to you girls as always, for your aid!
hmm... We´ll see what the next year will bring.

thanks for saying that. - i didn't dare to bring it up and just complained to my friends about it... Sinetöidyt huulet

- But then again, what else is there possibly more to say at the end of the year and before Christmas than the usual season's greetings? ^^ I'm trying to make up personal greetings for people close to me but so far I didn't quite succeed because in the end it all goes down to ... well: Merry Christmas. I also have my thoughts about what you wrote but they don't really want to come out in words. All in all, I mostly agree, but I'm not in a complaining mood, and it's Christmas, so...

Well now, I hope the band sees this year as a successful one. =) At least I can say that I had lots of great moments "with" / because of them: because of Syvään Valoon, that I had feared so much but that in the end turned out to be a wonderful record which had quite an impact on me, especially seeing that it -again- came out at a time that could have been way better for me, and thus sort of -again!- helped me through tough days.
There also were lots of shows that I enjoyed, all of which - except for one Silmänisku

- were absolutely great, especially the ones at Grand Casino Helsinki and Pakkahuone Tampere; the new places I got to see (Vantaa, Porvoo) and the people I met. And well, last but not least - everything I learned [for and about Finnish]. If a simple hobby/fanwork turns out to be actually 'showing a direction' then I think I have to be grateful. So yeah, actually I can quote the message - thanks for the year, merry christmas and all the best for 2010... (:

Maybe it´s a good idea to work with a new producer. I´ve read, that Jyrki Tuovinen has worked with several nameable bands I really like, like Apulanta, Sara or Lordi...
I wonder how much influences the producer might have on the recording process and in what direction album no. V could go.
I don`t know what I should await... but I´m looking forward to it.
The single coming out in May reminds me so much of the release of Vnus.

It was such a nice spring song.

haha, yeah, that was the first thing i did: googling his name. Only reading Apulanta and Sara made me go all optimistic [not that I wasn't anyway ^^]. And looking at how the bands he produced differ from each other it sounds indeed very promising.
I don't remember if I said that in here before, but with one of the news (or interviews or whatever) saying that they weren't revealing the producer's name yet but could already say that it was going to be a whole new experience for everyone involved I almost suspected them to produce their album single-handedly, i.e. on their own - which certainly would have been very interesting (though I do not know how likely).
Definitely looking forward to it, and this time totally not scared. Yet. Virnistys

"HÄ?" is exactly what I thought. I expected to understand this cat-thing with your translation, but... hm... I can´t even think about a saying that could be meant.
It´s a pity btw, that he doesn`t want to reveal anything about new songs. It´s always so much fun to make a guess about the possible direction.

Overall great news, I'm really excited and really curious about everything. Three weeks seems like such a short time ... - not for finishing a record in general, but looking at "this is going to be Uniklubi's 5th album"

I'm repeating myself but what I'm the most excited about is definitely the songtitels, so far I like 'Hopea' and the newly mentioned 'Valvekooma' the most. The latter makes me think of Apulanta instantly, because it fits in the lines of "Trauma" and just generally to their lyrics. Well, just as a name, of course. I like the word "hopea" so maybe that's why i like it as a name for a song. It's very very very mean to say the title is already decided. I'm curious to know whether it will again be related to one of the songs (as usual) or whether we'll hear something completely different.

The titles are the best thing about the whole studio diary for me XD Even though the whole reporting of their work arises the usual questions I should maybe just ask one day... -.-°

Oh, looking through my material for the translation archive, I found an old entry by Teemu in which he already mentions some working titles. It's from last autumn, but "Sinä maalaat mieleni" is already in there. There were also two other titles, "Mä lennän" and "Poispäin minusta". I'm very curious if they're coming up again, since Sinä maalaat mieleni obviously made it.
